I’ve created a PDF that details what The Hero’s Journey is.
You may download the PDF by clicking here.
The Hero’s Journey is a term coined by famed mythology professor Joseph Campbell in his book, “The Man With A Thousand Faces”.
The 12 stages of The Hero’s Journey are the stages that nearly every successful mythological figure, best selling book, and best selling movie are based on.

As we go through them consider the characters in the movies I show as examples.
George Lucas used these steps to create Star Wars.
Luke Skywalker goes through the stages of The Hero’s Journey.
Other movies like, The Matrix, Gladiator, Titanic, Casablanca, and many others are based on these steps.
Also consider your life as we go through the steps.
You’ll see that much of your own life has followed a similar path.
Think about how to use these stages in your videos to make yourself more interesting.

The link doesn’t work for me.
Hi Sally, here is the link:

It’ll take a little bit to load depending on your internet connection.
Marshall
Great stuff Marshall,
The hero’s journey, the dream, struggle, prize are the makings of any on or off camera story. Thanks for this, it is great context for any video or written story we are producing.
The Hero’s Journey is in any great success in life.
Eric
Eric, I’ve been fascinated with The Hero’s Journey. I had to put it into a nice form for others to learn from and share.
It’s essential in learning how to make more interesting videos and frame our lives in a more interesting fashion.
It is amazing how closely (read: identical) your hero's journey steps are to Chris Vogler's in his book The Writer's Journey. Is this merely a coincidence, or is there some crediting here that I am missing? After all, you state that YOU put them “into a nice form for others” and the PDF says “By Marshall Wayne.”
Jason, as stated above in bold, we all get them from Joseph Campbell in his book, “The Man With A Thousand Faces”. It's where he laid out the steps. Everyone gets them from that book so every book, PDF, video or otherwise is directly taken from that book.
George Lucas became friends with him and used the hero's journey as the basis for Star Wars.
