Great Web 2.0 Ad Example

This is a great example of a web 2.0 ad. It’s from a tech guy promoting a tech show on a tech internet station and the ad was shown on a blog. It’s how things are moving forward.

Would You Rather Be Fat Or Blind?

I can’t believe it but most people would rather be blind.

For me it’s a ridiculous question. I’ll take being fat any day over being blind.

Amazingly in a recent study, 89% of respondents said they would rather be blind.

What would you prefer? Fat or Blind?

  • WOW my eyes are my life! Gimme fat!!

    :) Andrea
  • I agree Andrea!

    Hi Marshall,

Wow, that is so weird. Well, I am fat, so I guess I've already .made my choice. Personally, I'd rather be fat than look like some of the skeletons that our poor celebrity women have become.

On the other hand, being fat does create a host of health problems, that can ultimately include blindness (a possible consequence of diabetes). I am wondering what someone who is blind would think. Would they want to be fat in order to see? Or have they adapted and like themselves the way they are? Hm-m-m-m

    Great question!
  • I'm wondering what a blind person would say also Nancy. I can't believe it was even a question. To me I'd take fat any day. I just don't see how this poll came up with people saying that they'd rather be blind.

They must have taken the poll on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
  • I'd rather be fat than blind by far. You can ALWAYS get in shape. You can't cure blindness that easily. Along with this, there are so many wonderful things to see in our day to day encounters that i can't imagine not being able to see the beauty in them!

FAT definitely. fat can be fixed and temporary, blind is permanent.
  • If I had to choose I would rather be fat then blind although there are so many "blind" people in the world who have the ability to see but choose not to do it.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,

I would rather be fat for sure. Have you ever gotten out of bed at night and kicked something because you couldn't see? Sucks right... How about that feeling you get when you can find something... like your car keys. That is frustrating... now imagine that you cannot see to find them- ever! Now, if you are blind, and still have car keys, that is a bigger issue than childhood obesity for sure. I would like to hear another question Mars- Which is a greater health risk... being 200 pounds at ten years old, or having a blind chauffeur?

    Stay Fresh,
    Drew
  • I agree Drew. I'm taking fat any day. Also having a blind chauffeur is not a good idea. Unless it's Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman. Then you're fine.

This is an interesting question actually because the answer really indicates how we perceive life. Most of us (perhaps more than 99%) do experience/ interpret life in relation to the self. And we dont even realize that this fear of judgement impairs us from fulfilling the real purpose of life which is simply living/ experiencing life as it is.
  • I agree Noor. Also it's completely left up to interpretation. Does it mean overweight or morbidly obese? Can we exercise and eat right to lose the weight or are they assuming we can't do anything about it? It's meant to spark a discussion and it seems to do that well.
  • That is the most screwed up study I have ever heard of. Makes me question society a little bit...

I'm already considered "fat" so I'd say 'em safe LOL. What's also an interesting study is that they found that fat or "overweight" people who exercise regularly actually outlive skinny people who don't exercise at all. Now THAT'S interesting ;-)
  • Mike, I don't know where this study came from or who they interviewed. I read it as an excerpt to a book and couldn't believe it.

It's a no brainer for me. Maybe they asked millionaire women in Beverly Hills. :)

I'm already both, so now what? LOL
  • I rather be fat than blind anyday. Well, if it's only for a week or maybe a month. I'll probably pick blind just to see what it would be like.
  • Me too Phong! It's not even close in my book. I'll take fat any day over blind. Oh and I forgot to get the book out to you! It's already signed, I just forgot. I'll have to get it out Monday probably.
